I know it seems early to come up with a soundtrack, especially considering not even a proper storyboard has been done. However, while browsing around on youtube, Ethan found a few songs that could potentially fit the bill. Two in particular we discussed and are actually considering using. They are “DIO’s Theme darksynth/80s remix” from Astrophysics Lives on youtube, and “Yoshikage Kira’s theme darksynth 80s remix” by the same person.
As for DIO’s theme, the reason it sticks out to me as potential theme song for our opening is because of the beginning of the song. The opening to the song is a bunch of loud brrn noises, and this intensity is what we would need for our cold open. We could also sync events, like footsteps, camera movements, etc. to the sound to make to fit our opening better and not seem out of place. The thing is, we could get that from any number of songs, the reason this one in particular is because of how it transitions from this into a dark synth musical sound that would work wonders for a title sequence/opening credits. First of all, the transition between these is a moment of near silence, and we could fill this with a scream from out victim without having to do extra work on the editing front. I really like the idea of that transition from the death scene to the opening credits. Second and lastly, the reason I think the dark synth music part of the song would fit the title sequence is because of a show called Stranger Things. Stranger Things is a mystery show, but as it goes on it turns into a sort of horror show. It is extremely popular, and its theme is very recognizable and dearly loved by many. This dark synth music sounds similar in style to the stranger things theme, and because of how much that was loved and Stranger Things is a sort of horror show, I think that a theme styled similar to it would benefit our movie.

As for the other potential theme, which I’ll call Killer to save time, would also work well. While I personally favor DIO’s Theme, this song also has the sort of Stranger Things theme style. While it doesn’t have loud bang with a quiet background, it does have breaks in the song sounded by a symbol crash which we could sync instead. This theme also has more sound throughout, so it would instead of focusing on ambient sound, we could make most of the background sound be the song itself.
Both songs would be good choices as themes for our openings, and a benefit they both have is what the theme behind them is. 80’s dark synth remixes. As our movie is set to take place in the 1980’s, having a theme based around 80’s music is important and would help immerse the audience in our movie.
